Application DBA / Database Engineer for Business-Critical Systems (Oracle / PostgreSQL)

Location: Copenhagen or Aarhus
Are you passionate about improving business-critical systems and leaving a lasting technical impact on systems that support key processes across Norlys?
Join the team behind our Business-Critical Systems
Some systems are customer-facing. Others quietly keep the business running, and this role is very much the second kind.
We're looking for an Application DBA / Database Engineer with a strong development mindset, someone who enjoys understanding complex systems, improving what already exists, and turning daily maintenance into more reliable solutions over time.
You'll be joining the Customer Engagement Platforms - Backend Practice, where we work with business-critical systems and databases that support key processes across Norlys. As part of the team, you'll work alongside skilled and experienced colleagues who are passionate about building stable, reliable solutions and sharing knowledge across disciplines. Together, we focus on continuous improvements, technical excellence and creating lasting value for both the business and our users.
Drive stability, performance and continuous improvement
You'll work with databases, integrations, performance, troubleshooting and data flows across a modern enterprise landscape.
A big part of the role is maintaining business-critical setups, which also means being close enough to spot where they can be optimized, simplified and enhanced.
You will be working with:
- Developing and optimizing SQL solutions
- Working with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Database upgrades, migrations and data replication
- Database operational support
- Understanding integrations, data flows and system dependencies
- Supporting secure handling of data
- Improving reliability, stability and operational excellence in existing database setups
- Collaborating with developers, platform engineers and architects to continuously improve our platforms
A significant part of the role is ensuring that business-critical databases remain stable, secure and high-performing in production.
For the right person, this is not "just maintenance". It is a chance to understand important platforms deeply and improve them step by step in ways that make a real difference.
Technology matters. Mindset matters even more.
We imagine you have experience with:
- Oracle or PostgreSQL
- SQL development and database optimization
- Database administration or operational support
- Troubleshooting production issues
- Working with complex systems and integrations
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Oracle PL/SQL or PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL
- Database migrations and replication
- Database administration
- OpenSearch / Elasticsearch
- Security-related database work
- Enterprise environments or Telco
If you don't meet every single point but believe you are a good fit, we'd still love to hear from you.
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys solving complex technical problems
- Is curious and eager to learn
- Takes ownership
- Likes improving how things work
- Sees maintenance as an opportunity to modernize, optimize and leave things better than they found them
- Enjoys collaborating across teams
- Takes pride in building stable, reliable platforms
