Experienced Database Administrator

At Norlys, we are seeking two experienced and motivated Database Administrators to join our Value-Added Services (VAS) team. Based in Tranbjerg, Denmark, with the option for hybrid work, this is your chance to work in a cross-functional team dedicated to delivering high performance, stability, and ongoing development of critical database platforms that support millions of customers across Denmark.
 

About the Team

The VAS department plays a key role in Norlys, operating and developing essential business systems and databases. You will collaborate with colleagues across the entire Norlys Group to ensure our systems are reliable, efficient, and future-ready.

About the Role

As a Database Administrator, you will manage and optimise open-source databases like MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Percona Cluster. Your work will span daily operations, troubleshooting, and strategic projects such as cloud migration, automation, and the development of new solutions like Norlys Mobil.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Percona Cluster databases.
• Troubleshoot database issues and provide advanced 2nd/3rd level support.
• Optimise database performance and ensure system stability.
• Manage database security, backups, restores, and access controls.
• Lead migration projects and implement version upgrades.
• Support automation initiatives and contribute to DevOps processes.

About You

We are looking for new colleagues with strong experience in database administration and a passion for working with open-source technologies. You thrive in a dynamic environment and are eager to contribute to both operations and development projects.
 

We expect you to have:

• Proven experience with MySQL and MariaDB in production environments.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL administration and performance optimisation.
• Skills in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, or Ansible).
• Familiarity with database monitoring and backup tools (e.g., Zabbix, Percona Toolkit).
• Solid Linux administration experience in large-scale environments.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Experience with Percona XtraDB Cluster, Patroni PostgreSQL solutions, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is an advantage but not required.
